THE TRIBUTE
For my shipmates.
For those who come after.
Why SPRUCAN exists
I served aboard Ingersoll and Deyo. These ships were places where I worked, learned, and lived alongside people I still remember.
SPRUCAN is my tribute to those shipmates and to the Spruance class. It brings together photographs, ship information, and a few personal recollections for others to explore.
I want a sailor to recognize something familiar here, and a family member to find something they can point to and ask about.
This is an independent personal project. There is no account to create to read the stories or browse the ships.
You can’t always go back aboard.
But the ship, her service, and the people who made her will always be remembered. For those who served.
For those who supported them.
For those who came after.
Something worth keeping.
The photographs and reference pages are here to be useful on their own. Personal stories are added when there is something to share. The value of a visit doesn’t depend on a busy feed or a new post.

These things were there.
A welcome-aboard packet. A coffee cup. A ship’s T-shirt. Much of what I collect came directly from the ships and the people aboard them.
For ships we can no longer visit, those objects are physical connections to a place that shaped our lives. Alongside the crew’s memories and photographs, they carry the history forward.
They deserve to be protected, documented and passed on with their stories intact. That is part of what SPRUCAN is here to do.
